IPTV services usually deliver two kinds of content: live channels, and an on-demand library of movies and series (often labelled VOD, Movies or Films in your player). Watching a movie means opening that on-demand library, not a live channel.
The steps below work in most player apps that support the Xtream Codes API, the login type that loads movie and series libraries with posters and descriptions.
Step by step
- Install a player that supports VODPick an IPTV player for your device that lists movies and series separately from live TV. Our movie apps page explains what to look for on each platform.
- Sign in with your login detailsChoose the Xtream Codes login if the app offers it and enter the server URL, username and password from your welcome email. M3U playlist logins work too, but many apps then show movies as a long channel list.
- Open the movie sectionLook for Movies, VOD or Films on the home screen. The first load can take a minute while the app downloads the catalogue and artwork.
- Browse categories or searchMovies are grouped into categories set by the provider, for example by genre, language or date added. Use search when you know the title you want.
- Check the details and press playThe details screen usually shows the year, runtime and description. Some apps also offer a trailer or a choice of versions, such as HD or 4K.
- Adjust audio and subtitlesDuring playback, open the player menu to switch audio track or turn on subtitles where the file includes them.
Get the best picture
- Use a wired Ethernet connection, or 5 GHz Wi-Fi close to the router.
- Choose the HD or 4K version only if your TV and connection can handle it.
- If playback stutters, switch between the app's hardware and software decoders.
- Keep one movie per connection: each stream playing at the same time uses one connection on your plan.
Can't find a movie?
Libraries vary between providers and change over time. If a title is missing, use the search tips in our guide to finding movies, or send us a request: we'll check and reply, but we can't promise every title will be added.
Questions
Do I need a separate subscription for IPTV movies?
Not usually. Where a service includes on-demand content, it's part of the same login as live TV. Your player simply shows it in a separate section.
Can I watch IPTV movies on my phone?
Yes. Install a compatible player app on iPhone or Android and sign in with the same details. Each device playing at the same time uses one connection.
